【Description of Item】
The Savanna is a mid-sized car (in the Japanese market) that was launched in 1971 by Mazda (named Toyo Kogyo at the time). Outside of Japan, the Savanna name was not used, and the car was given the name RX-3. The RE gets its power from the rotational movement of an irregular piston called a rice ball-shaped rotor, instead of the up and down movement of a cylindrical piston in a normal reciprocating engine, and was synonymous with Mazda's advanced technology at the time. The RE is compact and easy to generate power, and the Savanna was highly regarded as a base car for competition vehicles. Symbolizing this, the Savanna broke the stronghold of the Skyline GT-R, which was invincible in Japanese touring car races from the late 1960s to the early 1970s, and destroyed it in 1972 (the GT-R withdrew). With this image, it was also popular for ordinary Savanna users to customize their cars to look like race cars, but at the time, the works over fenders that race cars were equipped with to fit thick tires were illegal, and they were associated with an outlaw vibe. For Hot Wheels, this one is finished with a color scheme based on the Liberty Walk car, which was customized to look like a machine by Yoshimi Katayama, a well-known RE user.
